Love. Hope. Healing. Life.
Morning Star Foundation is a global nonprofit organization that helps families with severe heart disease in children get life-saving medical treatments. We provide funds, guidance, support, and encouragement as families navigate the difficult journey of getting treatment for their child.
Every Family Deserves Hope
Because the families we work with hold refugee status by the UN, they are unable to work or leave the country. This means they can’t afford to get lifesaving care for their children with severe heart disease. By partnering with a local hospital, we bring hope and healing.
We help families stay together by providing funding for medical procedures in cases where children have severe heart disease. Families are saved from making the terrible decision to give up their child simply because the family cannot afford the medical expenses of heart surgery.
For Ugandan children with severe heart disease who will die without treatment, travel is often required to receive care, and costs quickly mount. We provide funding for travel and treatment for these children when their families cannot.
Ahmed is two years old and he was born in Jordan, where his parents came as refugees from Syria. Then Ahmed’s fingers and toes started turning blue and he began to have trouble eating.
Preliminary testing showed that not only did Ahmed have a hole in his heart, but all of the organs in his little body were on the wrong side. Ahmed’s medical condition is very rare, and very complicated to operate on successfully. Ahmed’s parents, his medical team, and Morning Star Foundation knew that choosing to move forward with surgery for Ahmed would be very risky, but agreed that hope for Ahmed was worth the risk.
In April 2019, Ahmed was the first child that Morning Star Foundation was able to provide heart surgery to in Jordan.
