Help Children in Uganda Love. Hope. Healing. Life.

Giving Every Child a Chance

We work with local clinics and the heart institute to identify children with severe heart disease in Uganda who will die without treatment.

Many children in Uganda must travel out of the country to receive care, and costs quickly mount. We help children in Uganda by providing funding for travel and treatment for these children when their families cannot.

Maria was the first child born to her parents in a small village in Uganda. Shortly after her birth, her parents discovered that Maria was not a healthy baby. Maria’s mother would watch other healthy children in her village running and playing, and wish that her own daughter could do the same.

When Maria was one year old, she, her mom, and Morning Star Foundation’s cardiac nurse flew to India for Maria to receive the surgery that would repair her heart and help heal her family.

After a long recovery, Maria is now able to run and play with the other children in her village as her mother only ever dreamed she could. Maria’s mother reaches out to Morning Star often to express her gratitude for her daughter’s surgery and the newfound hope that she has for her family.

In Uganda, many people we help have never traveled outside of their local area. To get the care they need for their children, they fly to Dubai and then into India. To help families cope with this experience, we pair two families together. We ensure one of the families speaks English to help act as a translator. We also have a pediatric ICU nurse that travels with them, helping to explain the consultations and medical information parents need to care for their child.
