Shahaz is 1 year old and lives with his father, mother, and one sibling in Kampala, Uganda. His father is a mechanic and his mother stays home with the children due to Shahaz’s condition requiring constant supervision and medication.
After Shahaz was born, he was constantly getting sick and requiring medical attention. The doctors finally recommended his mother take him to the Ugandan Heart Institute (UHI) for testing. UHI diagnosed him with VSD, and he has been waiting for his life saving heart operation ever since. UHI connected the family with Morning Star, and we are excited to be walking the path of CHD with them and covering the substantial costs of the operation.
When our social worker Maureen met with the family, they shared with her that their hope for Shahaz is to see him grow up with a healthy heart just like other kids. They know that having the heart operation comes with risks, but it is the only path to hope for Shahaz to live. They also shared that they are so grateful for the Morning Star Foundation donors and all the children they have sponsored. They are thrilled that Morning Star has taken on their son’s case, too.
A healed heart means a healthy child and this is their prayer.
